To get to Fanø you must take the ferry from Esbjerg. We brought our bikes to be more flexible. An impressive view opened when we entered the beach. The sky was filled with kites. The organizers claim that there are around 10.000 kites in the air.
Coming to Fanø mid-June you can see something extraordinary. On th broad beach on the west side of the island. kites have occupied the beach. The view is spectacular. There are kites in the air and on the ground all over from mega animals to small ladybirds hopping on the ground.
Fanø International Kite Fliers Meeting is the biggest kite meeting in the world. It’s a meeting place for kite flyers from all over the world, who have fun on the beach.
As kids most of us have tried flying kites – a homemade or a bought one. Often, we were disappointed because of bad flying quality. It doesn’t need to be difficult. If you go to a kite shop, you can buy a good one for a reasonable price
I like it when people are nerdy and go all in. In the wintertime these people build new kites, and in the summertime, they fly them. People from all over the world come to take part in the festival – as far away as from Japan, but the majority come from Germany and Denmark.
