BAD JOKE

Bad Joke: In the 80’es I visited a local bikers club named Bad Joke. It was not a gang but more a social club around a common interest in motorcycles.

Biker group gathered near several Harley-Davidson motorcycles, showcasing classic leather jackets and custom choppers.

Bad Joke is not as bad as the name says

In the 80s, a good friend and I had an idea. We agreed with the board of the local motorcycle club to photograph them. We visited them several times in their clubroom in a disused farm to get to know them and to be able to formulate what we wanted.

The club is called Bad Joke, and it is definitely not a biker gang – just some local people who like to socialize around a common interest, drink a beer or two and go on trips together. We photographed them in their clubhouse and also had a session outside. In the spring, we went for a ride with them, where we sat in the back seat, held on with one hand and photographed with the other.

The highlight came when they held a meeting with other motorcycle clubs in the summer. As an obvious natural entertainment in the evening, there was to be a striptease. We biked to the train station to pick up the young woman. She was very surprised and was just about to turn around and leave again. She had thought that Bad Joke was a disco in Vojens, where she was going to perform, and now here stood 3 hardened bikers with badges on their backs, welcoming her. I was able to calm her down and she went with us.
