Beach Photos from a sunbathing Position

As I have previously described, we were very happy with the sun when we were young and middle-aged. My wife tolerated the sun better, and I was probably a bit more adventurous.

This portfolio is from the French Mediterranean coast around Sète in the mid 80s. After a few days of intense sunbathing I was red all over my body except where my swimming trunks covered me, and I started to think in other directions, I could tell from both my wife and the children that it was a bad idea. So I put on a thin tracksuit and lay down on the beach in solidarity.

But I had brought my camera with me down there. You have to be very careful not to let sand get into the mechanical parts. My idea was to take a picture from a lying position facing upwards with my 20mm wide-angle lens every time someone passed close to us.

There was a little boy who came and looked at me strangely because I was lying there looking into my camera. There were beach vendors selling cold drinks and ice cream and children who had been in the water or were getting ready to do so.
When we got home and the film was developed, I was very happy with the series.
